Well it’s been a while since I last posted….a very LOng while…why? Well I could give a bunch of crazy excuses…like I’m a perfectionist and wanted everything to be “perfect” to post…or I’d think I would make something to blog about…but forget to take pictures while I was doing it…which is sorta what happened today…(I’ll explain later) …but the fact is…I’m a terrible procrastinator…which I am trying to change..so this isn’t going to be “perfect” and I didn’t remember to start taking pictures from the beginning…but you have to start somewhere right?!
Tonight’s meal? Pizza…and actually this was suppose to be last nights dinner, but after I started the crust I realized it needs to refrigerate before using…so. My lovely husband made buffalo chicken grilled sandwiches instead…which were delicious..too bad I didn’t blog about it…
The crust….I have this bread cookbook called Artisan bread in 5 minutes a day. I highly recommend it if you like fresh crusty bread. (It freezes really well…) they also make a cookbook: Artisan flatbread and pizza in 5 minutes a day.
I don’t remember if I bought it for myself..or if my lovely daughter who works at Barnes and noble bought it for me..but I hadn’t used it…so yesterday I was craving really good pizza and thought…hey I’ll try that pizza book I have…and I did…and as I said before…I intended to take pics as I went…guess what…yep your right…I forgot. But the gist of it is this….take an empty gallon ice cream pail…add warm water, salt, and yeast. Stir in flour…put the lid on the pail. let rise on counter for 2 hours. Put in the fridge…and use the next day. Yes it really is that easy.
Again…I intended to take pics…and forgot…but really you will see the most important ones in a moment anyway.
So I followed the directions on assembling the crust but I pre heated the oven longer than the recommended 30 minutes.
I made 2 pizzas: the first tomato sauce, Italian ground beef, onion, black olive, mushroom and 3 cheeses, shredded mozzarella , fresh Mozzarella and shredded Parmesan. And then baked…after it baked I added fresh basil.
The second pizza: BBQ sauce, chicken, red onion. One half pineapple the other half black olives and some left over mushrooms. I topped the whole pie with shredded mozzarella, fresh mozzarella and shredded Parmesan.
Baked version….the one corner got a little wonky when it didn’t want to “slide off ” the pizza peel.
Now I am no rookie to making homemade pizza…I’ve used lots of recipes before…but I can tell you one thing for sure….you will REALLY have to twist my arm to get me to try another recipe. The crust was crunchy and crisp, without being overcooked. And yet the center wasn’t undercooked.
Yummy yummy yummy…I can’t wait to have a reason to make more pizza…who wants to come over for pizza!?
